It used to be the thing where we had some moral authority to be critical of other Countries where their leaders gave big public expenditure contracts to their mates, e.g. Putin in St. Petersburg, Berlusconi in Italy, Ramaphosa in South Africa, etc, but now we are just another Country on the list, governed by a core of corrupt, self interested politicians. We have had unelected Prime Ministers of this Country given their position by a rump of Conservative Party members who have then been able to use the power of the office to normalize dishonesty and corruption to an extent they don't even see it as that anymore. |  |
