Worth remembering that the cost of a transfer for FFP purposes is spread over the contract term. So for argument sake if we paid £5m for Stansfield on a 5 year contract the FFP hit would be £1m in each year. |  |

I don't think there's anything to stop that. The PL wanted to try and tighten rules with that kind of thing, given the Saudi League could be used by Newcastle and I think Chelsea who also have some Saudi investment, to work their way around FFP |  |

Not sure the other clubs are wealthy enough to pull off a stunt like that. Also, the players might not wish to move to the USA just to play in their second tier, with limited chances of career progression from thence. |  |

Would be rather unwise to do so, given a loss of form, significant injury or vagaries of the market can drastically alter a player's value. The club would also then be forced into selling said player at the end of the process, whether or not it was by then convenient. | |
