Mowbary on Stansfield is actually encouraging 08:31 - Jan 17 with 3722 views | GeoffSentence | The window is still open to get him. Mogga doesn't know if he wants to stay. He wants to play. He wants to do the best for his career. I'd say it opens up the possibility that he could still come here, something I thought had gone.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a talented player and would welcome him as an addition to the squad. But he is in no way a Hirst replacement that we need more. |
I’d be excited about signing him on a permanent but I don’t see much value in signing him on loan. If we’re using up a loan space I’d rather we brought in someone proven rather than someone who is clearly decent but more of a ‘potential’ kind of player.

He is on course for 12 league goals in a struggling side. I'm not sure we'll be able to attract a loan that has consistently scored much more than that. Kieffer Moore's scored a good amount of goals twice in the Championship (on the second occasion he wasn't loads more prolific than Stansfield this season: 9 goals in 26 vs 7 goals in 24). He's definitely done it once before. Woodrow hasn't scored 15+ goals in a Championship season. I'm not sure about overall contributions to the side beyond goal and assist records. Am I missing one or two safer loan options? Will Keane has never scored more than 12 goals in a Championship campaign, but he's been in fine form for Preston this season (very clinical). Wouldn't be a loan obviously and I prefer Stansfield's overall game. I don't think we'll sign Jay for what it's worth, due to the competition aspect, but I do think he's a talent today rather than in the future.
