Ipswich hotel recommendation 18:03 - Feb 4 with 1918 viewsMDBLUE1

Bringing my wife and daughter for their first visit to Portman Road in a couple of weeks. Any recommendation for a good mid-priced hotel convenient to both the pitch and bars/restaurants later. Thanks for any input

The Mermaid? 10 minute walk to the ground and good food, it is a Marstons pub so you know what to expect food wise.

Mermaid, Novotel, or one of the chain hotels near the stadium would all be solid options.

If you’re mobile I’d expect the family would appreciate being well away from the ground or indeed Ipswich for a taste of Suffolk.

If not the Bell hotel in Saxmundham offers good food and cheap(ish) accommodation) with the added advantage of a rattly train ride to Ipswich
