Wasn’t he the one who compared gay marriage to incest?

Sort of, he was the one who said supporting gay marriage is a slippery slope to allowing incest.

That Savile stuff makes grim reading now...

EDIT: I didn't even realise, this interview was after it all properly came out into the open. Fecking hell.

Presume the timing of the interview was when the story was unfolding?

I remember at the time plenty of people (including a fair few on here) taking a view that the victims were just chasing money.

Grim reading indeed - think we have come a long old way in the years since.

Kin hell - just checked - seems Tebbit is indeed an utter piece of sh1t

Interview was June 2013 - well after JS true nature was in the public domain.

"On 12 November 2012, the Metropolitan Police announced the scale of sexual allegations reported against Savile was "unprecedented" in Britain: a total of 450 alleged victims had contacted the police in the ten weeks since the investigation was launched."

Yeah, and there they are calling him a good person because he did some charity work!? Yes, we all have good and bad on our ledger as they put it, but I bet most people don't have molesting children for 40 years on their bad!

For whatever reason I had 2014 in my head as to when it all came out. I thought it was just some foreshadowing but no, he just doesn't really seem to care.

Not defending his comments for a moment, but you do wonder if his age may have impacted his thinking / comments.

Google says he's 92 now so he'd have been of an age where many people do start to deteriorate mentally.
