Football is ridiculous sometimes 16:54 - Apr 20 with 1147 viewstonybied

Sulemana knocked out cold and had to be put in the recovery position by one of his teammates before the medical staff come on and tend to him. He wakes up and trundles to the touchline only to come back on 30 seconds later.

Surely if a player is out cold he should automatically be replaced, no questions asked. The officials should be enforcing a sub in this situation.

If the description is true, that is disgraceful.

It's true, I was watching the game live. He seemed to be out for the count for a minute or so.

I don’t think Southampton had any substitutions left, so enforced replacement wasn’t an option.

Isn't there some concussion substitution rule?

Whatever the rules over substitution, allowing a concussed player to continue is wrong. The club, the doctor, the ref and the EFL should all hang their heads in shame ... assuming that is the actual case as described by the OP.

IIRC yes there is - both teams get an additional sub (window) if someone goes off with concussion. Happened with us earlier in the season.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?
