Just to say on 21:40 - May 20 with 1298 views | Zx1988 | The noise from decent sources (Phil included) is too much for me to believe that right now. KMc being out of the country doesn't mean he's incommunicado. Similarly, I've no doubt that clubs must sound their targets out first before deciding whether to make a formal approach to their employer. Why waste your time agreeing terms to talk to KMc if it then transpires he's not interested?

Also a well timed absence during all of this stuff. Only last week KM saying KM busy. Days later goes away whilst talk of moving starts. The odds on an announcement and then his return from leave...

Would what you describe not be ‘tapping up’? As a reminder, Phil was telling us there was ‘nothing in it’ with the takeover just before it happened. I’m not saying McKenna isn’t going, what I’m saying is it may not be as far down the line as many on this board seem to think it is.

That's also what agents are for. McKenna doesn't need to be there in person to be negotiating.

Oh absolutely it is, but it's obvious it goes on all the time. The trick is not to get caught doing it. At the end of the day, KMc has a release clause in his contract. If Brighton are willing to pay it, Town can't stop him from leaving. It's not quite the same as illicitly encouraging a player without a release clause to submit a transfer request.
