Tory MP Craig Mckinlay lost all four limbs to sepsis on 08:49 - May 22 with 932 views | BloomBlue | Most important thing is don't accept what a so called medical profession tells if you don't think it's correct. The paramedic didn't want to take him to hospital, didn't think it was serious enough, thankfully his wife wouldn't accept that. This is why the recent introduction of the Martha’s Rule was so important. Had it once with Mrs Bloom in hospital 20 years ago. Got into an argument with a doctor as I wanted a 2nd opinion and he refused, I had to grab him round the throat. Will never know if things would have been different but we did get a second opinion which identified a worse condition for her and she's still here. People need to understand the medical profession make mistakes, stand your ground and demand.
Tory MP Craig Mckinlay lost all four limbs to sepsis on 15:47 - May 22 with 726 views | FBI | A couple of years ago I got scratched by a previously friendly cat that wandered our area. Bit sore, bit swollen, but meh. Went to work a couple of days later and by 11am was in A&E with a right arm to shame Popeye and turning a funny colour, getting the most enormous telling-off from a doctor because, if I'd left it much longer, I would have been going down that very road. Not pleasant and my right hand has never been quite the same since. (Yes. Joke already considered and rejected :-) )

It's interesting that in that BBC article it talks about his wife demanding he be moved to a London hospital and then him going private to source his prosthetics. I wonder how many of the rest of us would have those opportunities? To be fair to him though, in his HoC speech today he not only called for efforts to increase earlier detection of sepsis but also for better prosthetics to be made available to all. I don't see what else he can do. I found it particularly galling to see all the Tory benches clapping the NHS staff again, but that's nothing new. We know they're only capable of shallow opportunistic gestures when it comes to the NHS. It is quite an emotional story though. Hard to imagine what he and his family have been through.
