Theoretically speaking of course, but I would assume that someone as astute as Ashton will have contingency plans in place with regards to the current situation.

How exactly do we reckon that happens? I would imagine it is trusted to as few people as possible to prevent leaks, but the board above him will be aware of the situation and I am guessing he then contacts agents etc on the quiet to check availability and interest levels of those we may target? I'd imagine its a pretty delicate situation all round when you factor in that we will also be trying to keep KM at the same time but he was likely spoken to before we pulled the trigger with Cook anyway I'd assume.

I haven’t the first idea how it works but likewise I would assume we are in regular contact with agents and reps to maintain an ongoing and fluid list of potential candidates. I imagine this is a normal thing as managers such as ours will have received a lot of interest.
I get the impression we don’t mess about these days and it wouldn’t surprise me if we already have a few candidates on standby ready to be interviewed at short notice.

Yeah, I trust Ashton to have contingency plans in place. We are obviously doing a much better job of keeping potential targets quiet as opposed to the situation with our manager though!

If all the reports coming out that United and Chelsea have already spoke to McKenna's representatives about the move .... then I would imagine Ashton is doing similar with managers in mind for if/when McKenna leaves.

The difference is, their agents aren't shouting their mouths off to the media every 5 minutes of the day.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Just a hunch but I’d imagine we’d look at a similar type of appointment should it happen.
Would Ashton therefore be in talks with the young Arsenal coach or someone at Chelsea or Spurs.
If things are moving towards an exit for Kmc then talks most certainly are under way for a quick and effective transition. FWIW, I still think Kmc will be staying.

Ashton has made the point before and recent in his interview with Stu Watson about trying to gain the advantage from getting straight back to work, so I'd make you right. He will want something sorted either way, fairly quickly.
