That'll be because your parents (a GP and a pharmacist) sent you to Stroud preparatory school (fees currently around £5k a term) and then to Winchester College (fees around £16k a term), and didn't waste their money on trashy TV.

I’m sure they’re enjoying the fruits of his banking career when he was in the bank that played a role in instigating the financial crisis that crippled the rest of us, and from his in-laws’ empire. Lots of nice holidays in one of their many properties around the world at least. That sounds envious doesn’t it lol. I don’t think I’d want to swap though. I couldn’t live with my conscience over their carbon footprint for starters. Helicopters everywhere twāt. |
From an abstract point of view, his parents forgoing certain luxuries to send him to a private school has paid more dividends than him having Sky TV as a child. What he did with his life post-school and where to took it is completely on him. He chose that path and that should be remembered. Its not about his schooling more about the type of person he chose to be.

I’m not so sure about that. You don’t find many senior politicians who haven’t been through that private school/Oxbridge route. It’s definitely a way to buy yourself access to opportunities (not guaranteed- but that’s why people do it). He still then has to make the most of those opportunities though I suppose. Although PM is an accident- he’s only there because Liz Truss is an utter moron (and he lost to her). Maybe he’d still be PM if he’d gone through his local comp though. We’ll never know.

While i agree there is a well-beaten path to the political office through private school/Oxbridge/top university, many people who attend these don't go that path. He decided to pursue that path, and whilst his background gave him the advantage it was still his personal decision to try to become a MP and beyond. The fact he lost to Liz Truss should tell us all something about him and wonder in dismay how we ended up with him as our PM. For him it feels like he's got his PM badge now, to go alongside his Investment Banker badge and soon will move on to obtaining his Venture Capitalist badge.
