We’re a group of 7 friends who are season ticket holders and sit together in Row A & B, Block B, Upper Cobbold and have done so for over 20 years. We will be very much affected by the placing of a glass safety panel. We feel that this panel will obstruct our sight lines of the game greatly. We would be interested to know if other supporters are equally concerned about this unsightly, unwelcome and unwarranted step by the club…. we understand it’s to deter another ‘Maidstone type jumper’.
We are currently in dialogue with the club, both verbally but mainly via email. We would urge and encourage any supporters who have similar concerns and objections to this safety panel to express their thoughts and questions to the club, if they haven’t already done so of course.

I'm in Block B, Row B. I plan to see what the view is like before worrying about it.
I don't see any point in complaining about something that I haven't even seen yet.
If I get to Portman Road on the first day of the season and hate it, then I might contact the club, but right now I'm just happy that I now have a season ticket for a premier league football club. | | | |

I was a Heath & Safety Inspector for 30 odd years. The club has had a hazard flagged up to it. i.e. fans climbing onto the roof of the exec boxes and dropping off the end. This happened not only to the Maidstone bellend but also at the end of the Hudders game so that some could get on the pitch.
The club have to respond to this with a reasonable plan, it's the law, they had to. Perhaps doing nothing would open themselves to being sued by the poor unfortunate landed on below.
Putting in a grand barrier scattered with machine gun nests and alligator pits is probably too much. Except where the Budgies are of course.
Putting up a screen is something. Personally I would have put it at the far end (the pitch side of the boxes) so that it does not get in the fans sight line. But I dont know, there may have been practical reasons why they did not do that. |  | | |
