Surely this means we have no leverage over Hull now regarding the double deal?

Say we buy the pair for £40 million. Hull can’t put the sale of Philogene down as £10 million, for example in order to reduce the sell on fee. Because Villa have matched our bid of £16 million.

I think you overestimate how much fraud takes place in football.

Villa would see straight through any manipulation of prices anyway.
