Ray Reardon RIP on 12:31 - Jul 20 with 1019 views | BarcaBlue | I saw him at the Corn Exchange in the early 80s. I think it was the UK Championship. He was one of the "oldies" then in my mind. Came across as a lovely man. RIP.

More likely to have been the Tolly Cobbold Classic organised by John Peachey. Reardon was a great player, usurped by the new breed of Davis, Higgins etc in the 80s but was always genial and a great sport. Fun to watch. Edit. Higgins probably not exactly new breed as he'd won the world title in 72 but in terms of TV take off. [Post edited 20 Jul 2024 12:35]

Blimey, that brings back memories. Saw Steve Davis beat Dennis Taylor with a 123 break at the Tolly Cobbold Classic.
Ray Reardon RIP on 13:13 - Jul 20 with 904 views | Illinoisblue | He used to work in the mines and was once buried underground. Listen to him talk about how he got through it. Gives me a panic attack just thinking about it.
