One of the greats of snooker. And a fine character to boot.

I saw him at the Corn Exchange in the early 80s. I think it was the UK Championship. He was one of the "oldies" then in my mind. Came across as a lovely man. RIP.

More likely to have been the Tolly Cobbold Classic organised by John Peachey.

Reardon was a great player, usurped by the new breed of Davis, Higgins etc in the 80s but was always genial and a great sport. Fun to watch.

Edit. Higgins probably not exactly new breed as he'd won the world title in 72 but in terms of TV take off.

Blimey, that brings back memories. Saw Steve Davis beat Dennis Taylor with a 123 break at the Tolly Cobbold Classic.

He used to work in the mines and was once buried underground. Listen to him talk about how he got through it. Gives me a panic attack just thinking about it.

Leaving the green baize table for the last time with a final break of 91.

RIP
