uninspired by our signings so far i know Omari is exceptional and is decent along with Greaves but i’m not feeling that confident we have under 3 weeks before the season starts and it really doesn’t look look like we’re going to have a side much better than Luton,Burnley last season i’m hoping we lucky with a few decent signings between now and the end of August ideally before the Liverpool game.
We don’t like the european market for players and the british transfer market just not working for us fingers crossed things change between now and Liverpool game.

I love this place sometimes. Our country - once held up as a model of democracy and paragon of justice - continues to arm "the most moral army in the world" c in its genocide of a desperate, defenceless people; a seventeen year-old knife-wielding boy stabs some young girls attending a Taylor Swift dance class to death; a former (pussy grabbing) US president gets shot at in the "land of the free" and a semi naked, pot-bellied man painted blue gyrates his groin to the world on a table evoking the Last Supper in the name of inclusion at the opening ceremony of the world's biggest sporting event held in the country which gave us the words "finesse" and "charm", but it's a bloke posting on a provincial football club's fan site about feeling uninspired at his club's dealings in the pre season transfer market that's "a sad indictment of the human condition."

Blimey. Nice rant, but you omitted the most important part of his sentence: "A sad indictment of the modern day football fan and the human condition really."

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Yeah that's always been the case with British players.

While I take your point about the wheeling and dealing, Ashton also knows this and will know exactly how much he has to play with (which we don't). He's earned our trust in that regard with the signings since he came in.

I think a lot of it with supporters generally (not saying you specifically) is that they aren't used to us spending these sort of sums. £20m doesn't seem so extravagant to me, for a young, exciting Man City striker in today's market.

The fee's aren't that bad as I said yesterday when you divide them by the length of the contracts as that's how the club are going to be viewing them anyway, so really say approx £4 mill for Delap, it isn't that much for a 21 year old striker. Or £4 mill for Hutchinson the same

Similar to Townsend. for back up left back who's signed knowing he's a back up, it's basically £250k for the signing who comes with 25 prem games, and a few full years worth of champ experience, so it's a solid if unspectacular signing.

a niche perspective

The fact that the poster thinks that someone expressing his lack of enthusiasm over our pre-season signings is a "A sad indictment of the modern day football fan and the human condition really" is the most important part of that sentence for me because it's an extremely disproportionate thing to say, unlike the part you have highlighted which I fully agree with.

"Importance" is by its nature subjective.

But this is a football forum, and the thread is talking about football matters.

So no, sorry, you can't just take the football part out of the sentence to make it look worse! He's not commenting on world affairs, he's commenting on football transfers and our reactions to them.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

In his own words, he's talking about the "modern day football fan and the human condition" but for some reason you don't want to acknowledge the second part. I have already acknowledged that I agree with his views on the first part.

Perhaps Ibbleobble will edit out the second part of his sentence to conform to the strict code of topic relevance you seem to be applying to others commenting on his remarks.
