TWTD advice needed 12:29 - Aug 6 with 790 views | GeoffSentence | How does one go about tracking down an original copy of a will? Got a potential probate issue coming up and need to find an original copy of my father's will. Thanks in advance

Some thoughts though: - Did the deceased (or the person in question) have a solicitor? If so they are the best people to talk to - There is a will service that you can register a will with https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/help - Was the person a member of a professional body? Often with work you can get a will done (certainly more old-school tradesmen) Worth checking with them - Search the house, even in the most unlikely of places - Speak to the person's bank - National Wills Register - Hire a company to search for you Forgot to say sorry that you are going through this. Tho it can be difficult to track down which one (we had a slight issue with that regarding my mother's). Once it has been proved, the will becomes public property and are centrally archived. https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/

Thanks all, we have no idea who the solicitor was, but we have found a Certificate Of Deposit of WIll, so now know the secure will storage where it should be.
