VAR on Screen 18:00 - Aug 17 with 1903 viewsDublinBlue84

In the games I've seen on TV before, when there has been a VAR check it's been put on the big screen that they are checking for something, but that didn't happen today at Portman Road.

Was that a glitch, or is that not required in this league and optional?

My assumption was a glitch?

Even on the telly we got no lines etc for the offside check. Still no idea whether the delap penalty incident was in fact offside. It was not apparent from the VAR footage shown.

That's what strange, they said this year that VAR was going to be explained more and be more transparent and today it was completely opaque.

I was in the Cobbold and Leif was offside before Delap got challenged so no problem there, but there was no clue if VAR were looking at it that I could see.

It was incredibly opaque.

My assumption was that they were reviewing the offside in order to decide whether to review the penalty claim. Can anyone confirm?

That's how it was. Leif was clearly offside but the penalty looked possible and may well have been given. Shame.

There's an image on t**tter and I was fuming when I saw it because it appeared to show Davis was onside (looked off in real time to me). Then I realised that Davis was the red line and the Red's defender was the blue line! How stoopid is that?

I assume they always use blue for the defender and red for the attacker? I've got a lot to learn.

Got neither on the telly. Looked marginal and needed the lines. Not at all confident about the system so far....

Six improvements were promised after Wolves tried to get VAR scrapped, including increasing transparency and communication.

No transparancy at all today, it was most opaque I ever saw it.

But I know people at other games and also VAR Monitors were not working and nothing appearing on their big screens so I wonder if there was a general system failure somewhere?
