Freddie Flintoff’s ‘Field of Dreams’ 22:20 - Sep 3 with 1448 viewsRyorry

Anyone watch that and not find a lot of unexpected dust hitting their eyes? Beautiful, just beautiful - best thing on TV so far this year imo.

Wonderful that they’re planning to introduce similar schemes UK-wide in future.

Thoroughly enjoyable and uplifting. And yes, it's dusty out there in Calcutta

Be interesting to see how this goes across the rest of the country. Schemes to coach youngsters have been there before.

The magic of this was Fred himself and the time both him and Kyle gave up for those lads, not just to coach them at cricket but also to coach/mentor them off the field.

Glad a few of you had the dust too, wish we'd had a warning about that!

Really going to miss that it really was the best thing on TV by a mile.

Also wondered about the transferability of the scheme given so much of the success of the FoD was due to FF being exceptionally gifted in his ability to communicate with & relate to young people. Also of course the aura around him following his cricketing career & then his death-defying Top Gear stunts.

However, I'd be surprised & disappointed if there aren't a number of coaches around the UK who are just as caring, supportive & able to talk with/relate to youngsters off the pitch. You've only got to remember Eli, the 18(?) year-old on the tour who only discovered his love of coaching & ability for it towards the end of the India trip - he was obviously pretty charismatic, & able to lead the rest of the group. Could say the same for Sean, who led them surprisingly well in the game he was made Captain for. There are stars everywhere!
