Came to my attention earlier (via my wife who used to gym with his wife when at ITFC) that his little girl is poorly.
And then came across this go fund me page that has been set up, and has the details of her condition.
As an ex player, I thought many on here would probably like to show their support.

Hopefully it’s ok to post it, if not please remove on my behalf PH 👍

Osteosarcoma is a nasty, nasty cancer that mainly attacks children. My 21 year old grandnephiew got it, had his leg amputated and then still died after all the interventions to save him. It was very aggressive and it was only 20 months between diagnosis and seeing him in his coffin. In an attempt to cope with this horror and in his memory, his family are trying to made him the face of blood donation in Ireland.

Oh crikey - this is awful to see. Dixie was in my daughter’s class when in Ipswich - it makes the stomach churn with sadness.

It’s so awful. As Eireannach says that’s a horrible, horrible illness and sarcoma’s can be so bloody cruel. Friend of mine was diagnosed and despite various interventions and treatment sadly passed away 2 years after diagnosis. Hoping and praying for a better outcome for this young girl, plenty of others have successfully overcome osteosarcoma especially when it’s been caught early and hasn’t spread, so every reason to remain upbeat and positive.

I spent quite a bit of time with DG during his town days, albeit not in touch now. He’s a top guy, really down to Earth. You wouldn’t wish it on anyone but certainly not of a nice family like that.

Thinking of them and keeping my fingers crossed the treatment is effective.

Oh my god. How awful. My best mate was diagnosed with osteosarcoma on his 21st birthday (unusually late in life as it’s mainly a childhood cancer). He went through hell, but was fortunate enough to have a decent enough quality of life that he could get married and have two children, before it got him and he died at the age of 36 in 2010. Far too young, I still think about him every day.

I’m out of the country at the moment but will donate to this when I’m back home

Hmmm my encounters with him are the complete opposite, but it’s not the place to discuss that. This is only about his little girl
