Historic Ipswich programmes as presents 19:23 - Sep 7 with 2164 views | CambridgeBlue | Good evening all, I've recently come in to a frankly staggering number of old Ipswich programmes and wanted to ask your opinions on what I should do with them. I don't think the club or the supporters groups will be interested as they'll have them already, but it seems a massive waste not to do something with them. From an initial look, it seems I've got most home games since about 1970 and quite a hefty chunk of away games as well. The guy was clearly a fan among fans. Sadly they aren't in any sort of order and they'll all need cataloguing to put chronologically and work out what's there. I'm not looking to make a fortune but there are literally thousands of them so I thought I'd put it out there that people might like to buy one for their birthday week, grandparents, children etc. and what they'd be willing to pay for them. I'd never just chuck them but I really have no other idea what to do with them so would be interested in people's thoughts? Thanks!

That's my problem - at auction in bulk they're probably worth about 10p each, if that. I don't think they'd even sell. And I'm not going to catalogue all 3000 of them on the off chance that a collector will pay £5 for the ones they're missing. Would people really not pay anything for the ones that fit their or a significant other's birth week?

There might be a small niche market for people who want a souvenir of a game played on their birth date. I’ve looked at mine before and it was a few days out from my birthday. Maybe lay out programmes by season and take short videos panning along. Might be easier than cataloguing

Appreciate it may not be near to you, but this guy has a lot of programmes for sale and might offer a reasonable price for them - https://www.stonhambarns.co.uk/retail/retail-village/the-vintage-cellar/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100068858366333 [Post edited 7 Sep 2024 21:07]

Yep, I have purchased from Steve Earl in the past, although looks like he wants to retire, so may not want to add to his stock - https://www.footballprogs.co.uk/ | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Perhaps keep the cup games especially 1978 FA Cup and 1981 UEFA Cup programmes as they will always be of interest. Personally l'm looking for the Town v AC Milan programme!
