Bosnia-Herzegovina. 17:15 - Sep 20 with 1465 views | StochesStotasBlewe | Thought I’d share this with you all. Went to Sarajevo for a 3 night break with my lad a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely blown away by what a beautiful country this is. Fabulous scenery, still very cheap to eat and drink (the local beer was excellent) and incredibly hospitable people. Visited Mostar and some other small towns and places of interest while there too. Not overrun by western tourists yet either which was very refreshing. A real melting pot of cultures and some stark reminders of their turbulent recent history. Highly recommended for a city break and right up there with the other more well known destinations we’ve been to.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Bosnia-Herzegovina. on 19:43 - Sep 20 with 1234 views | Swansea_Blue | We’re looking at an interrail trip next summer down to Montenegro. That whole area bordering the Adriatic looks really interesting. The trains look a bit limited from what we’ve seen so far though, as we were hoping to go out or back through Italy, and then take in Montenegro, B&H, Croatia, Hungary and Slovakia, using Vienna as the main stepping on/off point (good sleepers from there to NW Europe). It’s not clear that’s doable at the moment, but I haven’t looked at the buses yet (I’m sure it’s possible somehow).

Greetings Carol. It’s a very reasonably priced break. Ryanair from Stansted in just over 2 hours away. Highly recommended, not too commercialised, found a really good air b&b and the job was a good un. Tourists from the Middle East outnumbered the western visitors which made for some interesting conversations. Really really impressed. Do it

The rail network is cheap in BH. Return ticket from Sarajevo to Mostar worked out at about a fiver, but only ran twice a day I believe so we booked a mini bus tour which took in several other places of interest finishing in Mostar. Met several people who were touring though the Balkan countries but were driving themselves because of the limited train services you mention.

RATW is superb TV. I’m not especially fussed about the people and the back stories they always have to have (although some are thought provoking), but you get to see some brilliant footage of the regions they go through and often places way of the tourist trail. The current season in S. America has been great for that. Rural Argentina looks amazing (and less developed than I expected).
