Mild bemusement... 15:58 - Sep 22 with 1027 views | Zx1988 | Watching Brighton v Forest. Forest counter-attack, played through for a 1-on-1 which is missed. Flag is then raised for offside. The referee then books Lewis Dunk for a foul on the Forest player who made the offside pass, and had evidently played advantage. However, as the pass was offside there was evidently no advantage. Therefore, should the play not have been brought back for the foul, seeing as no advantage had been gained?

Perhaps it's the case that the offside happened the moment the ball left Jota Silva's boot and the ball was immediately dead at that point? Dunk's foul happened whilst the ball was dead and was, therefore, no more than a technical offence at that point?

A defender, or attacker for that matter, could get injured making a last ditch tackle, or a stretch for a goal attempt , when the whistle should have already been blown. I know that it's about phases of play etc. but sometimes it's just common sense.
