A few thoughts 18:28 - Sep 29 with 740 views | bsw72 | Team is starting to gel, with partnerships forming down the flanks etc. overall an excellent performance apart from a short spell of 5 mins at around 12-13 minutes when a bouncing ball almost caught us out and then they equalised. That was the only obvious mistakes the defence made, apart from that looked solid. Full backs working well with the widemean and Morsy/Phillips looking good. For all the good stuff Morsy did today, he misplaced more passes than he usually does, and imo was a little lucky not to get a second yellow. I thought he was going when he made the third foul after his yellow card but I think the ref bottled it, he would have gone if we were away from home. That being said, even when things aren’t going his way he doesn’t hide, a true leader. Going forward we’re moving the ball a little quicker and starting to create and exploit more gaps. The pace we now have on the counter attack is a definite advantage. Delap should have had a hat-trick, and we could have scored at least another 3 but for a World Cup winning goalkeeper at the top of his game. Finally it’s great to see the manager tweaking the setup, forcing Emery to change his approach and then really going for it with the subs. Taylor had a very effective 20 mins, and Szmodics, Hirst, Burns and Luongo all made key contributions in their few minutes. So, September unbeaten, only lost to Man City and Liverpool so far, team coming together well, next few games need us to get some points on the board though. Exciting times.

Think that may have helped Morsy, as the ref did not want to get highlighted for sending off a player for two yellows, with one quite soft.
