What changed? 14:41 - Oct 9 with 4180 views | quad | I've given it some time to reflect on the West Ham game and it has left me feeling even more disappointed than I was at the time of the game. I can't understand for the life of me how we can go from playing so well against Villa to so poorly against West Ham in such a short space of time. IMO we were superb against Villa (Greaves mistake aside) and deserved to win overall, just about. A lot of criticism on here about the defence, especially Muric and Johnson, but personally I was more disappointed with our attack. Delap obviously had a good game and did little wrong but was feeding off scraps. Hutchinson played a bit better in the last couple of games than he did the previous two. I will get pelters for saying this but he is incredibly frustrating, obviously a brilliant talent, but very lightweight and constantly giving away possession which just invites pressure back on us all the time. Maybe Szmodics should be given a go at 10 and Hutch played on the right, because at the moment it's just not working. Clarke was sublime against Villa IMO but completely ineffective against West Ham, Burns tried hard but was playing far too deep to have any attacking threat (and on a couple of occasions when he got further forward and beat his man he messed it up with a poor final pass or cross). I don't know what the answer is but prior to this game I was feeling really optimistic about our chances of staying up. But if going by that display we are the worst team in the premier league. Even Southampton will take encouragement from a better performance away at Arsenal. Sorry to be so negative but that performance has got me really worried. Looking again at the highlights on MOTD, West Ham could have scored 10. We really need to put in a really strong winning performance against Everton to bring the confidence back and kick on from then.

A Mckenna team not doing their due diligence. We just made too many sloppy mistakes at the back and up front. Which were punished by a very good team. |
Exactly! suggesting that a team of professional grown men could get excited to the point of fallibility like they're school kids is nonsense. McKenna will be preparing them to be calm and composed before and after every game. Some fans are guilty of unhealthy amounts of projection.
What changed? on 13:15 - Oct 10 with 303 views | mutters | These types of days comes and goes. Its not always around the result, it is how we respond to it. Leeds last year was the same, got properly outplayed but responded in the right manner. We played very well against Villa and have the ability to hold our own.

Exactly. In some games we just wont be good enough. Especially away from home.

Remember that we were very very close to going, and indeed, should have gone, 2-1 up with Greave's header. If that goes in, things could and probably would have been very different.

I don't know if I'd describe it as "very very close". It was a good opportunity executed poorly. We do need to take our chances when we get them though. No doubt about it.
