I am starting to be a bit worried by him starting on the left. Looked good on the eye v Villa but yet to see anything from him otherwise. Very poor in last two, just looks terribly lightweight, pushed off the ball far too easy and struggles to make much of an impact in tight spaces.

Concern is one of the main reasons he didn't make it at Spurs was his lack of tracking back. Sunderland fans always said his weak point was failing to track back.
But Hutchinson had the same problem at the start of last season but Mgr & coaches corrected that, they can do the same with Clarke |
The lad has talent and I'm reminded , as you allude to, the start of Hutchinson last season when he could swerve form the wonderful to the oh dear until he had effectively been coached. He as also very good when he played at Brighton. I do think that at the end of the season we'll be looking at a different player from how he is now. How that works out for us in the bigger picture of survival is moot. |  | | |
