This is a great (and prescient) song which builds to a crescendo but I don't think I've ever heard it played on the radio or rated as a great song.
In a 1978 interview with Rolling Stone, Henley said: "'The Last Resort', on Hotel California, is still one of my favourite songs... That's because I care more about the environment than about writing songs about drugs or love affairs or excesses of any kind. The gist of the song was that when we find something good, we destroy it by our presence — by the very fact that man is the only animal on earth that is capable of destroying his environment. The environment is the reason I got into politics: to try to do something about what I saw as the complete destruction of most of the resources that we have left. We have mortgaged our future for gain and greed."

I'm not really into vocals of a song too much. Yeah, I like a good voice in my music, but give me a guitar solo, a Sax solo or anyone that is talented on a musical instrument and I can appreciate it so much more than a singer......well ish. There are exceptions and this, and this lady is one of them.
Hayley Rainharts singing.....bloody hell. The woman is a close to a real life Siren as I have heard. I make no apologies for making this the second PMJ Hayley Reinhart song to this thread.

Saw Les Carter's current band Abdoujaparov in the summer, good fun.
First time for me very clean and tidy for a punk band ( think they are ), reminded me of this sound, well nearly like this sound it's the wonderful thing about music half of the time i don't know what's going on and then i think i do. Great to have someone like yourself on the board to keep me informed and on my poor old toes, great stuff.......probably talking out of my back door again.

Thank you for your kind words, the link between music hall and punk is real. Here's a great comic on a new wave label, produced by Dave Edmunds and backed, perhaps, by some of The Blockheads.
