Announcer not reading out the away team 20:18 - Nov 24 with 4102 views | Mark | Has the club been asked why the announcer no longer reads out the away team just before kick off? Now we are playing global superstars you would think they would read out their names so we know who we are playing. Substitutions are announced, but not the starting 11.

Announcer not reading out the away team on 20:40 - Nov 24 by DublinBlue84 | There's no time to do it. Needing to play the Premier League Anthem etc and other Premier League required stuff means it's a choice of playing Hey Jude or reading out the line-up of the opposition. Earlier in the season when they did read the opposition up, people were moaning about Hey Jude being rushed. |
Maybe it is the Premier League athem taking the time then. It's just that in all the years I have been going to football both teams have been read out just before kick off, and in the case of Norwich it gave us a chance to boo every one of them! I also like the half time and full time scores to be read out from the other matches in our league. Yes, we have mobile phones to tell us all this, true. [Post edited 25 Nov 2024 23:12]

Announcer not reading out the away team on 18:13 - Nov 25 by Churchman | I’m actually not all that fussed if they don’t bother reading out our team let alone the opposition. It’s on the screens, on your phone and all over their backs. In particular, I couldn’t care a less who the opposition is by name. Global superstars? I go to watch my team, not them. They can have Ming the Merciless, Donald Trump and the Teletubbies in their team for all I care - they’re just 11 dudes with snappy haircuts, tattoos and bad shirts - and Man Utd’s shirt close up was a real dogs dinner. |
Well, we are playing many of the best players in the world in the Premier League, and it is brilliant seeing us compete so well against them. It shows far we have come. The team news is helpful to know if the opposition have any key players missing on the day. Man Utd's shirt may not be the best but at least they played in red. I like to see traditional colours worn wherever possible.

Announcer not reading out the away team on 16:48 - Nov 25 by Tractor_Buck | I used to get absolute pelters for that. Would you believe that there are, genuinely, people who still avoid the Premier League scores until they watch MOTD? |
Yes, I would believe it - I'm one of them!

Now we are playing global superstars you would think we would know who we are playing. I should mention that I also prefer it when they read out the opposition players' names. Well just about everyone has a phone and the BBC fixtures feed has the teams so I don’t see it as an issue even if you can’t see the screens or hear the PA. Could they not use the electronic panels going around the stands in ticker tape fashion for a couple of minutes?. World stars? Great, but I am there for my team. Each to their own. Some like half and half scarves too. There’s no right or wrong, just a personal view. Agree with the last paragraph - it certainly was good to see them play in their traditional colour shirts instead of the usual pyjama monstrosities clubs favour these days - yes, I’m a dull, miserable git. I do understand the reasons but I do wish teams would play in their first choice colours where possible. That includes us at Spurs the other week.

Oof. What an Oxymoron. The fact they are 'global superstars' means we already know who we are playing.
