1% away 14:30 - Dec 10 with 4802 viewswrightsrightglove

Sam Morsy didn’t have a great game on Sunday, but I’ve still been singing ‘He’s Egyptian’ to myself all week.

It feels like we’re 1% away from being a mid-table team. The only problem is that 1% is a massive jump at this level. We’re not getting embarrassed as a team and are competing with all of the teams we’d want to be competing with. It’s just that 1% of quality, experience and depth that we’re missing. And actually that makes me proud and shows how much we’ve stepped up already this season. Our squad value is £100million lower than anyone else’s, it’s £250million below the average premier league squad value. Our two most ‘premier league’ players are both 21 and in their first season in the premier league. And yet we’re competing, we’re 1% away.

And yes, that 1% might be the reason we go down. In all honesty I’m not sure what else anyone can do without breaking FFP. And if we do go down, we’ll still be in one of the best positions the club has ever been in. Various ground upgrades, a new training centre, a vastly improved squad compared to a few seasons ago, the club moving in a clear direction with a clear plan, parachute payments and valuable assets.

We’ve got to stick together and stick with the team. Whatever happens this season, we’ve still got our club back.
