Southampton aside, things are pretty tight near the bottom of the PL and it feels like it will be fine margins as to who stays up and who goes down. Everyone will be trying to improve their squads but we have a real chance of survival if we get the right players in in the Jan window and if we can do better business than the other teams around us.
The good news is that McKenna knows what he needs and Ashton is a very shrewd businessman who can make it happen so we are very fortunate to have them.
We also have continuity. Most of the teams around us have changed their manager recently so they won’t have had continuity of recruitment and that long-term vision of building a team from the ground up that McKenna has had.
It will certainly be an interesting rest of the season.
We already have a player who can get us over the line to 17th. Step forward Kalvin Phillips. I think I mean to say "Step up" Kalvin. I'm sure the coaches can help but it's Kalvin who has to flick the switch. One good game at home where he scores and Blue Action hoist a banner and sing a song and we might find ourselves with an unstoppable player.
Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?
