No criticism of individuals based on yesterday's game 08:48 - Jan 20 with 824 views | Simonds92 | But the last 2 games our pressing has been really poor. The front 3 go, do their job well and then they're not backed up by the central midfield, effectively leaving us hugely exposed, as there's an easy ball out and they're suddenly able to get at us with less players to play through. Our press was absolutely fundamental to our success in the last 2 years and it's crucial we continue to be brave and press as a team. Otherwise there is no point bothering in the first place.

The positions they took up, their movement and ability to find space and/ or pull our players out of position was the best I've seen. Personally, I think whether we had pressed (like you say) in the way we normally do, or sat with a low block, we'd have struggled.

Their pace, power and general athleticism was incredible, within a blink of the eye of losing position, they were back in full defensive shape. Add that to everything else going forward you can easily see what it takes to challenge for and win the PL or a European trophy these days.

It is a fair point we would have struggled regardless, but my point is the lack of cohesion, or potentially bravery, to maintain the press made it a lot easier for them than it needed to be.

Feels like a settled team and players being fit is so so key (and overdue) - sounds as though Omari wasn't quite right fitness wise and we can't hide that
