But the last 2 games our pressing has been really poor. The front 3 go, do their job well and then they're not backed up by the central midfield, effectively leaving us hugely exposed, as there's an easy ball out and they're suddenly able to get at us with less players to play through. Our press was absolutely fundamental to our success in the last 2 years and it's crucial we continue to be brave and press as a team. I posted yesterday, the quality of the City players 'off the ball' is something else.
The positions they took up, their movement and ability to find space and/ or pull our players out of position was the best I've seen.
Personally, I think whether we had pressed (like you say) in the way we normally do, or sat with a low block, we'd have struggled. |  |

Their pace, power and general athleticism was incredible, within a blink of the eye of losing position, they were back in full defensive shape. Add that to everything else going forward you can easily see what it takes to challenge for and win the PL or a European trophy these days. |  | | |
