Delap Buy Back Clause 18:03 - Jan 20 with 3806 viewstrent_blue

Rumoured as 20mil a few months, now seems to be reported as 25-30mil.
£30mil would make sense as it’s double what we originally payed, but puts us back to square one when city inevitable trigger it - if even to sell him to someone else for 40-50mil.

Does anyone know if this actually exists? People seem to be quoting Delap as us selling for 60-70mil, but the reality is if this clause exists we won’t be getting anything more than £30mil - and a big hole to fill.

I'm sure that this was pretty roundly debunked a couple of months back - the understanding is that City have matching rights, rather than a buy-back clause.

Does this really need going over again, every single time someone mentions Delap going back to City?

No one knows either way.

100% speculation.

Stefan Borson is probably one of the more reliable sources you will find.

Other publications have also quoted £30m.

We were competing with Southampton for Delap, so may not have had much choice.

May, or may not be accurate.

Last sentence is the only certainty. Although I’d argue that if the buyback was £30m and City could do it at their leisure then it would have happened by now so
city could flip him to someone else for a profit.

Unlikely any buy back clause could be triggered so early.
