I got to know him a little through a mutual friend after his injury,poor guy was very homesick hanging around during what seemed an endless "recovery" .. he certainly did have the look of a player that had something above average about him for us. |  |

The issue that he makes me think of at this particular time is overseas scouting and recruitment. It seems odd that fully 16 years ago, when we were in a lower division, under an owner who is much maligned, we were able to scout players such as Civelli from halfway across the world, whereas now we seemingly cannot.
We have a much bigger budget now, we have competent management, we have a great coach, we are a bigger draw, and yet we only recruit in very parochial circles. When we sign exciting South Americans, it is to improve promising players for mighty Brighton. In a digital age, this seems odd to say the least.
How many promising Brazilians or Argentinians could you recruit for the price of a Jack Clarke? |  | | |
