Sadly it looks like Axel will be off on a free if/when we're relegated.

But we need to get Cam Burgess signed up, as he will be an important player for us next season in the Championship, especially as decent left-footed CBs are difficult to find.

Axel has an option to a further year (at least that was my understanding), which I would be amazed if we did not trigger.

Agree that Burgess would be a good player to retain should we be relegated. However, weirdly despite the goals conceded this season, we are pretty deep on the CB front and with Woolfy signing a new contract recently I do wonder if at least one CB goes should we go down. I suspect O Shea would go in that case, as I think he’ll command a lot of interest and a good transfer fee from a PSR angle.

I hope you're right, but I don't think he does.

Perhaps Phil can confirm?

Why would he sign up knowing if he does his job he'll be discarded when we go up? I think Woolfy would have been off had he not been a local lad.

I'm fairly sure I can remember Phil saying that too

Axel has had a very turbulent career, he really needs some stability which we can give him

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Woolfy's contract probably suits both parties.

He gets security and the club don't lose him on a free in the summer. I still expect him to be sold.

There's no proof this will be the case currently but a Baggott is the other left footer we have coming through also

Hopefully he does definitely into a decent centre back for us
