I assume that sort of forward planning is where we aspire to be in future.

Well yeah - it does highlight a massive chasm between where we are and where they are. A good example of what we are up against in terms of how well resourced established well run premier league clubs are. It didn’t happen overnight at Brighton and won’t here either.
