I thought he had a very good game yesterday, with Cajuste not far behind, and we more than held our own in midfield against a physically strong Palace team.

I know he gets a lot of stick (something I don't think he has fully deserved) but he has impressed me every time he has played since Christmas.

But however good our midfield (and I think with Phillps and Cajuste we are probably seeing what McKenna hoped for when we bought them), we won't win games if the attacking players behind Delap don't do the business.

For me Leif has been our most disappointing player of the season. I came into it believing we had a potential England left back and now I'm not so sure he's even Premier League level (yet).

Think a bit of narrative has developed around Leif. He is still our most important attacking player. Perhaps that is a problem in itself!

He creates twice as many chances as any other player in our squad. Even taking out dead balls, and he doesn't take every one now we are in the prem, he has created the most chances from open play. Davis is 11th for chances created in the whole premier league. The only other defender in the premier league ahead of him is Trent.

Yes there are some defensive frailties and dozy moments, not least that back pass on saturday, but he still created two of our three best situations in the match (not withstanding I think he overhit the cross to Johnson slightly).

I respect that his attacking stats still show that he’s created a decent number of chances but I would still say his overall performances have been below par and he’s rarely had a good game this season. Also despite his attacking attributes it needs to be remembered that he’s primarily a defender and he’s looked very poor defensively in my opinion.

I’m sure he would certainly do better in a side that would allow him the opportunity to get forward without having so much defensive responsibility but I just haven’t been as impressed with him as I expected that’s all.

Poll: How would you rate our summer transfer window out of 10?

With all due respect he is a top 10 creative player in the division (all positions) and that is despite his/our attacking set pieces being quite frankly awful this year. He has been as good as could be expected, I'm just not sure we've been as clinical in putting away the chances he's created this season.
