JP 19:08 - Mar 15 with 3819 views | textbackup | A collective of professionals sat down and made Philogene a target, and paid £22m for him. And continues to start games, despite being consistently weak and poor. Am I missing something with him? I hope so, and I hope someone can point it out to me.

So fed up with people constantly moaning about recruitment, as if MA and team weren’t trying, we had unlimited squillions to spend, and every 6’4” Prem-experienced man mountain was beating down our door in desperation to join us. [Post edited 16 Mar 0:52]

JP on 19:27 - Mar 15 by LankHenners | The first thing I'd say is that the idea he's been 'consistently weak and poor' is just rubbish really. Think he's looked better game on game playing in an unfavoured position because needs must/McKenna doesn't rate the other options. Not to say he's been brilliant but the reality of it is he's another player playing in this league for the first time and taking time to get used to it. Not much help to us now obviously but think it was a deal that became available to do so we jumped on it as he's a player we've admired for a while and think will be good for us. Think it's fair to say our track record on those types of deals is pretty good. Feel for him a bit as people have just taken a dislike to him for whatever reason and he'll have to do a lot just to shift that opinion a bit all because football fans are really bad at seeing things with any perspective. |
He's been playing on the right wing - Out of interest, where do you view his favoured position to be?

JP on 19:15 - Mar 15 by vapour_trail | To make matters worse, the warning signs were there from his time at Villa, where Emery clearly didn’t fancy him, and the club concluded they’d made a mistake in the summer. Bet they couldn’t believe their luck when we more than covered their losses. |
Not sure they made a huge mistake - didn't they make several extra millions for having warm the bench for 6 months. Do think at 22 million we were mugged.

Oh come on. Please don’t join that gang of ‘we can only sign skinny small players as a newly promoted team’

It is no coincidence that our more athletic and physical players have performed better, Delap, Hurst, O’Shea and Jens. Other team’s players are so much more powerful

On the left where he’s played more and where we wanted to sign him for in the summer before moving onto Jack Clarke. There’s a reason we had Burns and Ogbene for the right hand side and Jaden is clearly a completely different profile to the pair of them.
