Just a point of order - maybe one for Phil 17:21 - Apr 9 with 1609 views | Linners | Did MA actually say "we're very, very well protected" in relation to Delap? Reading the articles at the time it feels a lot more like a overarching comment relating to the owners etc than the Delap deal in particular - even though most outlets did report it as being about Delap. https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/25020784.ipswich-town-mark-ashton-reported-l
Just a point of order - maybe one for Phil on 18:12 - Apr 9 with 1434 views | backwaywhen | Yes he did or words to that effect , but I guess a 10 mil profit is not to be sniffed at , I’m guessing it’s better than being reported ……time will tell .

Surely we can include additional bonuses in - if not it’s going I be a bad piece of business at the end of the day! Especially as city get 20%

Prior to this season, what was our record transfer fee received? Whatever profit we make is likely to shatter that figure alone, isn’t it?

We need context. Figures are seriously inflated these days, but that’s the market, it’s why £30 million (if true) is such poor judgement. If we celebrate it as you rightly point out (as a record sale and decent profit) then we still need to accept the context. It’s £20 million below market value, and we also spent £120 million net…, we can’t just keep pretending we didn’t spend more than every team in the prem excluding Brighton. We spent not only more than we ever have, by a huge multiple, but more than any promoted club ever has too.., it’s hard not to conclude we bet the farm on staying up, a champions league contract for the manager; champions league levels of investment.., it seems MA didn’t factor relegation in recession making, which is odd at best. I can’t imagine KM has much of a relegation downside either, when we blew Brighton out of the water financially. He wasn’t in a position where he needed to agree a big downside.., at least he’s been poor enough that a new deal in reduced terms is realistic. Could be a busy summer. The only signing I hope we make is in the boardroom, and around foreign talent ID., essential if we have ambitions to be a top club.
