Overseas recruitment 10:12 - Apr 10 with 430 viewsringwoodblue

In recent years we have bought mostly UK players but I wonder if we should try something different this summer and recruit more from overseas. Enciso and Sarmiento have both showed that the South American players provide a bit more flair and excitement so I’d like to see us bring in someone from that part of the world next season. Also Cajuste has been a good loan player but doubt he will stay next season so we should look to bring someone else in from Europe. And we could also look at an African player or two of the ilk of Bryan Mbeumo or Yoane Wissa.

I would think that overseas players have been high on the agenda during this season but in the event of us staying up. When relegated I can't see any decent foreign players would want to play in the Championship unless offered mega wages.
Really hope Cajuste would want to stay...but at what price? Maybe a further loan if he is willing?

Setting up a sound overseas scouting network takes time - on the pitch the club has made great strides but off it, we’re still recovering from Marcus Evans.

I’d imagine improving the scouting network is high on the list - but probably worth remembering that only three years ago, the club didn’t even have a good scouting network in Suffolk.

Saying that, I’m guessing that as a consequence of the club having a much improved profile, agents from all over Europe etc have probably made contact with the club regarding the availability of their players.

There will be plenty of championship quality overseas players willing to move. The problem is finding them amongst the rubbish. The pool is huge.
