Sorry if I’ve anyone has already posted this and I’ve missed it but surely Delap not getting a call up is a good thing for us? You would assume there would be some kind of add on for Man City based on an England call up and given the fixed release fee it’s not like it would bump his price up at all.
Obviously not privy to the contract but I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a fee for a call up. |  | | |  |

The obvious thing for me in this decision is the u21 have the euros this summer and they want him to lead the line and bring the trophy home. So essentially setting him up with tournament football for next year's world cup in USA etc al. |  | | |

It makes more sense for Delap to play in the U21 tournament. For me, although he has looked good at times for us there are plenty of other occasions he’s looked very raw, he’s still got plenty to learn about his position. There’s no doubt he’s got plenty of potential, but I still feel there are plenty of English strikers ahead of him at this stage. |  |
