Gulf in class
at 08:23 21 Apr 2025

A term often used to compare us to other clubs in the EPL, but looking at that first goal yesterday that was nothing to do with the calibre of player or our quality, that’s simply rank poor defending which we’ve been guilty of a few times this season. I scratch my head sometimes why we don’t go out and close players down, we simply stand off them and let them shoot. You could argue the 3rd goal was similar too.

Why is it still called the Champions League?
at 18:36 20 Apr 2025

If you can qualify for this tournament by finishing 5th?! I really do miss the old format, but that sadly is not going to generate monies for the coffers!

Change the fecking name at least.

15pts adrift of West Ham
at 16:55 20 Apr 2025

Not just the points difference from safety, but the GD of the bottom three makes absolutely terrible reading, that tells its own story. All too predictable today, Arsenal are levels above us and yet they did not need to get out of 1st gear and that was before Davis’ sending off too.

Raya literally had nothing to do all game. These last few games are going to be painful viewing.

14pts adrift….

Such a ridiculously large gap from 4th from bottom with still a good number of games to go. Serves to highlight the gulf.

The joy of being in Burnley or Sheffield United's position
at 10:31 6 Apr 2025

The difference to this time a year ago and the excitement of potential promotion to the EPL. That's the feeling you crave and want to bottle up, does it get any better than that? At least both those sides (and Leeds) know what to expect if promoted, but that appears the 'epitome moment' once promotion is sealed from the Championship and the 5 or 6 weeks of the close season. Beyond that, the flame of hope and optimism soon starts to flicker.

Did Luton last season do a better job than us?
at 07:45 31 Mar 2025

Controversial I know, but I do believe Luton Town did a better job than us in trying to avoid relegation last season. Thoughts?

Incredibly, the 3 bottom sides need another 23pts to match the combined total of the 3 relegated sides from last season, which is incredible to think about it? Just serves to highlight how poor Southampton, Leicester and ourselves have been. I can’t really see any of those sides winning another game this season.

It was always going to be tough this season to survive….
at 18:33 15 Mar 2025

I’m not one of the deluded supporters that were expecting us to cope comfortably with life in the EPL, 4th from bottom would’ve been success for me. However, I’ve been really disappointed how we have shown up in games for a number of months. No league win in 2025 and I just can’t see us winning another game this season. With the money we have spent, Luton gave a better fight than us last season and they made minimal investment in their playing squad. We’ll compete in periods of matches, then concede and ultimately capitulate. Yes, we are down, which I accepted after the Southampton game at home, but I wish we’d given a better account of ourselves, we’ve come up woefully short this season. Where the blame lies, I’m not too 100% sure? I do feel all areas need to take a fair share of the blame on and off the pitch.

Cricket - England going out with a whimper!
at 11:25 1 Mar 2025

England’s white ball cricket has been going down the drain at a rapid rate over recent years. We lack variety in our bowling attack - it’s all a bit the same - and the batting is simply woeful. What is the point of Phil Salt? Hits a 4 or 6, then gets himself out with a careless shot, generally out for single figures most innings. I can never understand this ideology of keep throwing your bat at it when 5,6 or 7 wickets down with over 20+ overs left. Why not hang in there and build a total?

I know McCullum has only recently been appointed as our limited overs coach, but for me he’s taken English cricket backwards. Other international sides have overtaken us and play a much better brand of cricket, than the crash, bang, wallop of Bazball. It really is crap to watch when we are on the wrong end of it, which appears most of the time.

Hard to disagree with what Danny Murphy said about our defending. We’ve done it time and again this season and just don’t seem to learn?!

Phillips needs to start ahead of Morsy
at 18:13 15 Feb 2025

A fantastic point today.

There’s no doubt Morsy has been great for us since he joined, but for me Phillips is the better midfield option in there with Cajuste. When he plays like he did today, Phillips offers more than what our skipper does when he plays. Sentiment needs to go out the window regarding team selection and we play our best XI from now until the end of the season and for me Phillips needs to start.

If you can’t beat Soton at home….
at 17:15 1 Feb 2025

You really don’t deserve to have any chance of staying up. Where are our points coming from for EPl safety exactly? We are just fortunate that Wolves and Leicester are as bad as us to keep clinging to the hope because none of those teams can do the job for themselves to get out of this mess. We are getting excited when Everton scored their third today, because we can’t get a second to put our own game to bed. For me, that’s us done in this league regardless of how many games are left, we just aren’t good enough.

Will under 30pts be enough to stay up?
at 21:55 17 Jan 2025

Southampton and Leicester just aren’t good enough to stay up. Will either us, Wolves or Everton get 30pts? I think that will be enough to stay up. From the bottom 5 upwards, the gap is huge.

Focusing on the positive
at 16:11 5 Jan 2025

Clumsy challenges by Morsy and Davis aside, the overall performance was very encouraging, we looked decent defensively and a real threat in that final third in that 2nd half. I know someone will see that as two points dropped, but I’ve come away from watching that far more hopeful.

In all honesty, I’d have taken a point if offered it at 2pm.

Is possession now becoming less important?
at 11:41 31 Dec 2024

Lots mentioned from fans from all clubs across the country about the importance of possession to win games, but are we seeing a buck in this trend? Forest being a prime example of it. 10-15 minutes after half time last night, we had 12% possession but during that spell grabbed that second goal via Hutchinson's clinical finish.
