True, but at the same time I think we ought to be realistic and face up to the facts that McKenna is on a different trajectory than when tempted by Brighton and we have to be ready - and respectful - that he's ambitious and would want to get back into the PL in the fastest way he can.

Ashton will hopefully have a list of target replacements, he should be listening to noise, they sometimes turn into facts

Ashton doesn't need to listen to any noise, he will be entirely aware of the situation's realities. As McKenna's employer, any approaches need to be made through him.

Of course, perhaps I wrote that poorly.

I mean that - perhaps more so than the past two years - I hope he's got a very, very, very well protected contingency plan

I don’t agree. You should ignore the noise. If you don’t and respond to it, you’ll invariably get it wrong.

Yes, you should be aware of what is happening, but that’s a slightly different thing, as far as I’m concerned. Contingency planning for McKenna going? I hope Gamechanger and the CEO have done their work on this because there will come a time when he moves on.

As for McKenna’s trajectory, you might well be right and he wants to get to the PL ASAP now, but who knows? I get he’s ambitious and quite frankly he owes us nothing, but I hope he’s been honest with the club and visa versa. We of course are unlikely to know so there’s little point in second guessing it.

I hope he is committed to ITFC, but if he’s not, then I hope he moves on ASAP with my best wishes and thanks for what he’s done. The club is much more important than any individual, including him.

Yes, the fact we are having to step back from the Prem rather than moving towards it is a big risk factor in losing McKenna.

I'm sure Ashton will have a list of preferred candidates. However, even if we get the one we want, there is always the danger that things will simply not work out.

But the fact is reporters have confirmed it and reporters never lie.

Plus Ed has basically said it himself, he identifies as Irish.

I assume you're talking about that noise re Ed?
