I will say this ... it's very very quiet on the Brentford/ McKenna stuff 12:18 - Jun 11 with 2024 viewsBellevue_Blue

My position is very much if he goes then so be it, he's earn't it. But just comparing the noise around Brighton last summer to this one, it's night and day.

Pretty much from the moment De Zerbi left, every journalist was on him to Brighton as no1 target.

Now with Frank all but departed... crickets from most.

To be fair Frank needs to actually fully complete his move before the real speculation probably begins.

It’s not been quiet on here!

Wait until there’s an actual vacancy. I’m not getting involved in the will he/won’t he, but speculation will undoubtedly ramp up if/when Frank goes to Spurs (which is closing you believe the press stories).

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I have discovered something though as a result of all the speculation. Frank is Danish! I’ve been thinking he’s German for years, until today actually

You're thinking of Swiss Toni, who isn't.

Does he? Why?

He's leaving, pre-season starts in 3/4 weeks. Brentford would be mad not to start the sounding out process now.

He 100% earned the right to be a premier league manager this season. Promotion, on a limited budget, with a legacy squad a long way from that quality.

Next season though. He just spent £150 million, will leave with a large amount of that as legacy liabilities, to potentially be paid with an EFL level of revenue, for a group of players who clearly don’t have a ceiling at that level, except Hutchinson.

Add one league win all season, the worst season in a clubs history, and a measurably worse performance than Rob Edwards the previous season and ‘earned it’ seems a very strange narrative.

At least Kompany was a German speaker and that was a much smaller pond for Munich to find a talented, young, talented coach, who plays their way.

Brentford are established. They could attract managers who have won trophies globally, as Wolves did.

If they want McKenna. Good look to them…, if he stays away from talent ID it might work…, clearly a talented coach.

But he’s a million light years away from that standard based on last season. He’d be a huge risk.

Personally, after almost going to palace, clearly agreeing terms with Brighton, I’d be happy to bring in someone who else, if the king is dead, long live the king, clearly there are better options if we want to be established in the premier league.

Suspect he’ll end up in the Mick, Lambert, Farke, Jewell, Keane pile of never ending managers who had huge success in the championship…, but were miles off the required standard in the prem.

He’s a huge risk at that level.
