Seriously though, one thing that let's Ipswich down as a tourist attraction is the lack of a castle or cathedral, although it did have a castle at one time.

Thanks, Chris Moss’s series on unfashionable English towns and cities is excellent, and unsurprising that Ipswich turns up.
You kind of think it’ll become really popular and gentrified (medieval town, 60m from London, short drive to an awesome coastline), but it never does, which just adds to the charm. |  | | |

Like the football club, the actual town has so much potential but unfortunately for it, no one has seemed capable to push it forward. The Cornhill, the town hall, buildings like Mannings and the small ally that led from there to where the Golden Lion was - all has so much potential to be much better.
I know that many in Suffolk strangely look down on the town but they are just inbreds. |  | | |
