Benters Waterbutt Watch. 04:15 - Jul 14 with 1589 viewsBenters

That’s it folks I’m down to my last four watering cans of rain water, the butts are bone dry.

Still we are mid July so I’ve done pretty good, last year was better though I got to the 7th of August when I ran out.

On the bright side there are many more butterflies, bees and hover flies in my garden so a dry spring was good for those little darlings.

How are the other gardeners on here doing?

Thanks, tend to be a bit Heath-Robinson in makeshift repairs here, improvisation is key!

There used to be a 2nd hand /antique tool shop in local town that sold lovely old garden and farm tools you don’t see anymore that were really useful. Sadly closed after a few years, think the elderly owner may have died.

That’s the ticket, never throw anything away, you know well that soon as it’s gone to the tip you will need it !

We used to have one of those in Benters you could literally buy anything,it’s a Tescos Express now!

The pallets supporting the garden shed on my veg patch have rotted over 10 years, so it's now the Leaning Shed of Yorkshire & will no longer support gutters or downpipe :(

The ones on my 6 x 4 feet greenhouse do a decent job, but they're distinctly mini in scale - a deluge results in a 25% fill of a 75 litre tub on one side, and a 50% fill of a 50 litre tub on the other side, which doesn't go far in hot weather.

Both tubs now spilling over following mega downpour this pm 👍

Yes I saw that this afternoon in Benters.

Tipping it down on the Suffolk Cambs border. Will be overflowing at this rate.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

From my North wing it looks out towards Suffolk I could see it was very stormy looking.

So lucky you.
