Shared Success - Town & Morsy 19:35 - Jul 24 with 570 views | cordonblue | Feeling a bit emotional watching the footage the Town media team are putting out, the video with the players really drives home what an impact Sam has made on this football club. It has left me reminiscing on what a brilliant relationship this has been for both parties. Across his tenure and in particular the two promotion campaigns he was immense at driving standards on and off the pitch, driving the club forward through his tenacity and dedication. It is impossible to put into statistics how much extra that gave us. His leadership qualities were critical but he was without a doubt our most important footballer across the two promotion seasons. An absolute colossus in the middle of the park, game after game in the championship I remember being amazed at how dominant he was both physically and technically. He was vital to how we wanted to play and his consistency was astounding, 8/10 every single week. Without the signing of Sam in August 2021 we would not have been playing top flight football last year. Sammy has equally profited from the relationship however and Ipswich have given him the best years of his career. At risk of becoming something of an EFL journeyman before signing for Town he has gone on to captain back to back promotions, get named PFA Fans Championship Player of the Year and reach the top flight. He now finds himself making millions of pounds in the last years of his career, setting his family up for life. This was a match made in heaven and has given all of us memories to last a life time. Thanks Skip.

More than any other attribute, in those two promotion seasons he just so rarely made an error or lost possession. His ability to look after the ball was unparalleled and he was so useful at winning possession when we didn't have it. That gave us so much control in games, without it we would have been a fraction of the team we were. If he had a yard or two more pace he would have done it in the premier league too. Tough decision by the club not to extend his deal, but the right one I feel.

Hes a proud Egyptian and great captain. Really my kind of player, combative and efficient with the ball, he was the guy who could retain possession and keep moves going. There aren't many club legends. But Morsy is one.
