What a championship team we have. Quality throughout.

Say that:

Need another striker and centre mid.

Enjoyed seeing Davis in new role, please keep him there (he can't defend)

O'Shea and Greaves more than good enough centre backs and should start.

We have upgraded from Morsy and recruitment has been good so far.

We now have too many decent championship keepers.

If we went.up we would need a whole new team again.

Westlake is still too positive all the time on Comms

Although twice now (I think) we've played a more three at the back looking system second half. Suspect that's more to do with availability, but maybe... probably not!

Yeah this is also a good point- I can see Woolfenden getting games as a late sub to give us size on the right side, but actually its quite plausible/likely that we will start some games with DOS giving us what Tuanzebe did last season, with Woolfenden inside him.

I did wonder, but not for too long. I’d imagine last night was pretty close to KM’s preferences of formation and personnel. He’s not going to have reinvented Leif to convert to wing backs (maybe!)

Woolfenden will likely get some minutes late in games, especially at right back to give us extra height, whilst Id imagine hes going to start periodically like Edmundson did too- its a long season. That might not be exactly what he wants but probably enough, if the team are doing well, to keep him content.
Chaplin and Burns are going to probably get even more time as regular subs, with some occasional starts too. Think Burns is probably going to be accepting whatever minutes he can get on his way back, before he can really think about being a regular.

I expect the front players will be rotated quite a lot as usual. He’s going to need all of them if he’s stepping up the high press) isn’t he.

It’s an exciting team. We’ve strength, pace, technical players all over the pitch and loads of quality in reserve. If KM can’t get this lot back up something’s will have gone very wrong. But I’m trying not to raise my expectations too much (hard not too - we’re so much stronger than last time).

Yeah, I talked myself out of the idea half way through my post!

Success or failure will be very easy to measure that's for sure, but we've seen in successive seasons now a team like ours that has failed without doing a lot wrong.

Squad value isn't everything (not a long way short regrettably!) and I'm unconvinced anywhere on the web measures it accurately, but the best known of them, Transfermarkt, places ours third, so good indication there exists two other squads filled with riches alongside our own. And the team below us achieved 92 points last season, or 90 with the 2-point deduction. Fingers crossed Leicester catch a heftier penalty at some point to make life that bit easier for the rest of us.
