I use Revolut on my travels. I like it cos you can just top up whenever you want to use it and you get a good exchange rate with it and fee-free transactions. I'd only consider getting one for use abroad.
If you just get the basic card, there is no fee. I think the monthly fee is for the premium cards.

I have had nothing with issues on their business banking side so much so that I went back with a regular high street bank, mainly for security reasons.
Personally I would never use them again. They were and I think still are outside of the FSCS guarantee.
Worst of all you cannot speak to a human being and their decisions are final which only leaves your recourse to be with the financial ombudsman.

Yes they're not covered under the FSCS, I'm currently helping a friend via the FOS to try and get money back from fraud which they've refused! Simarly Wise have refused my wife's fraud refund! Revolut are very good for FX etc but for security and general banking they're rubbish!
