Have been watching the pre season games. Like most fans I hoped we would get most of our business done by now, but I have to say the performances in the games in Austrian, France and Aberdeen were superb. Azor looks like an upgrade on Morsy and Clarke looks every bit the player we hoped he would be. |  |

I agree. The team spirit and togetherness that McKenna, Morsy and others created during back to back promotions will be hard to replicate but in terms of pure footballing ability, this squad even without Omari is a lot stronger than the one that got us promoted to the Premier League. For me , the single most important thing over the summer is that we kept McKenna, he’s got plenty to work with and based on the 3 games you have mentioned is doing a great job. |  |

Friendlies are nothing like the intensity we will face Friday night.
Teams have had chances to score but not taken them. We have lost players and characters who have been important of the pitch as well as on it.
We are in urgent need of a couple of quality midfield players. We also need a striker if Hirst gets injured We will be down the river without a paddle.

We need cover that's for sure, especially in midfield. But our attacking options were very strong anyway before the transfer window opened, and they'll get stronger even if it takes time. | |

I watched the Auxurre game yesterday and thought yes we're playing well, got it organised, in control, on the front foot. What remains to be seen and I'm sure we will see it starting at Brum away is how well can this team respond to being on the back foot and bouncing back without Morsy driving us to bounce back in games. Have we still got that 'we don't know when we're beat' feeling in the team ? Can we come back from going behind in games when the pressure's on ? I dunno yet, we'll have to see. I'm bracing myself for a choppy August as the team sorts itself out. |  | | |
