Thread | Southampton penalty VAR check

So I remember only a few weeks back people telling us the rule is if you foul outside the box but carry on into the box fouling it's a penalty.
So can they explain why the Premier League have come out in response to queries about Southamptons penalty awarded by the ref, and not overturned by VAR.
"The referee’s call of penalty for the challenge by Robertson on Dibling is checked and confirmed by VAR, who deemed there was no conclusive evidence that the contact occurred outside the penalty area"
Why were VAR checking for evidence that contact occurred outside the box? if as we were told the rule says it doesn't matter if contact is outside the box if there is still contact in the box between the same players. |

I thought they'd already be hundreds of posts on FC25 as it's released today, about whether the ground looks right yet, or will be patched later, players etc etc.
I did have a question though whether Town were going to do a special Ipswich cover edition to buy from the shop?, I know there have been print at home style covers in the past. But we're Premier League now :) seems an obvious marketing opportunity for EA not to be horrendously exploiting fans for. |

like how often will they get to wear it, it clashes with us, Leicester,Everton Brighton and Chelsea for a start |

Difficult to keep track of all the stuff going on yesterday and I had no mobile signal for most of it but did anyone see if there was an estimated crowd total they'd put out ? It looked easily double the ground capacity but you couldn't work out where I stood actually how across and deep it was
I've never seen that many people in Town before since at least the Fa cup/uefa cup wins.

hey everyone always goes on about plastic footbal fans, but in these times of Covid, and the chances of fans being let back in to grounds isnt likely for a while though games are likely to be played anyway
why dont we adopt in the UK for football what theyve been doing in MLB,, not the creepy computer generated fans they tried in the first games, but like they are doing now with cardboard cutouts of fans photos, though Ive read they are charging $299 dollars for it at some teams which seems to be extracting the michael and missing the point, though it varies considerably between teams https://www.sportscasting.com/how-to-become-a-cardboard-cutout-at-mlb-game/ ... but maybe season ticket holders could get given one instead of refunds for missed games and just send the club a photo of their choice and they produce this cardboard cutout for your seat and it fills the ground with these oversized face cutouts, which does IMO make it look like the fans are still involved in some way.
I know, it will rain the first game and theyll all melt or it will be considered a fire hazard, or some rule will stop it,even F1 has that video wall fans can appear on. but its something to ponder perhaps :) |
