A bit of work to do? 09:54 - Aug 3 with 1972 viewstractorboy1978

I think Broadhead goes regardless of what happens with Omari as the money is too good. So we could potentially need 2 x 10s. Plus two CMs. Plus a striker assuming Ali stays, if not 2 strikers.

Here's how we lined up in our first season back in the Champ (brackets for the sub who came on)

Hirst (Ladapo)
Broadhead (Harness) Chaplin (Hutchinson) Burns
Morsy Luongo
Davis (Leigh) Burgess Woolfy Donacien (Ball)
Hladky

Versus how that might look Friday (brackets denote who could replace)

Hirst (Ali)
J Clarke (Broadhead) Szmodics (Chaplin) Philogene (Ogbene)
Matusiwa Taylor
Davis (Young) Greaves O'Shea Johnson (Young)
Palmer (Walton)

So. Doesn't look like a massive improvement across the team, but come the end of the transfer window, if we see Cajuste in the middle and someone like Akpom there to help out Hirst and Ali, then it's a great couple of additions and improves us, even if Broadhead and Hutchinson go.

Worth noting Akpom has played on the left for Ajax, hence his numbers haven't looked like when he played up top for Boro.

There's no doom and gloom here, not ideal of course, but we'll be okay, long season ahead.

I'd say it does look like a massive improvement across the team, personally. We've upgraded almost every position.

agreed, plus those who remain are far better players.

to take just one, hirst came in with massive question marks against him having a grand total of zero goals at the level, now he's an international who did well at the level above

I know it's only preseason, but Hirst is looking a different beast for the experience of last season.
