I like Countdown.
I like Eight out of Ten Cats.
But I’ve never really liked Ten out of Ten Cats Does Countdown. It’s very funny in places but just something about it doesn’t make me really like it.
Just wanted to get that off my chest.

I like it but I think I get what you mean.
Countdown is like a nice cup of tea.
8/10 Cats is good because it allows the panel to decide where they want easy points, and where they want to use their artistic license... Mortimer will bring something leftfield, Ayoade to give logic to something absurd, others may just play the vulgarity card.
I don't really see much 8/10 in the hybrid though. It's just playing fast and loose with the Countdown rules, plus the familiarity or Sean (RIP) and John trying to get a rise out of each other.
I dislike the Joe Wilkinson parts as they are just attempting cheap laughs, but I guess it mixes up the flow a bit to remind you it isn't just a Celebrity Countdown special. |  |

To start with I thought it was brilliant, I even grew to like the Joe Wilkinson bits (although I prefer it when he's a contestant) - but it's never been able to recover from the loss of Sean Lock, and the absence of Jon Richardson from at least half of the episodes now has meant there have been some absolutely shockers of episodes - despite the best efforts from some of the guest captains.
Carrot in a box is and will always be the highlight. | | | |
